About MetaScopeVGC

The vision behind MetaScopeVGC was to create a comprehensive analytics platform for VGC, a place where both players and fans could explore in-depth analytics related to the scene.

What started as a few small visualizations to learn Power BI quickly evolved into the full-scale analytics platform you see today.

The goal of this platform wasn't just to create an ordinary stats page with basic charts, but to push the boundaries of what competitive Pokémon data could look like when engineered and visualized to its full potential.

Currently, MetaScopeVGC includes data from the Scarlet & Violet era (VGC 2023 - present). Historical formats may be implemented in the future.

About Me

My name is Garret Gallo!

I am an aspiring Data Engineer and Analyst from New England.

Additionally, I have been playing Pokemon since I was 8 years old (so for almost 20 years now damn lol). In terms of competitive, I competed in VGC from 2015-very early 2018, as well as in Smogon from 2020-2022.

First - I want to thank my amazing girlfriend 소현 for supporting me and always being there for me, as well as supporting me through the creation of this platform ❤️.

MAJOR shouts to PokeData! For those who are unfamiliar, gathering and collecting this tournament data is a significant challenge, as there is no clean and centralized location to draw from. However, I am grateful that they let me pull from their API, which made the process ten times easier. Make sure you check out their page here!

Also, shoutout to my boy Anthony Londergan. We've been close friends since the 2015 Boston Open, and I probably wouldn't even be involved in competitive Pokemon if it weren't for him.
